Mezzanine Properties:  

Mezzanine Understructure: Structural fiberglass shapes that are generally pultruded. Structural fiberglass I-beam columns

Benefits: Fiberglass won't rust or contaminate.  It can be immersed in water and easily washed down.  Structural fiberglass color won't ever "chip off" because it is molded into the fiberglass.

Drawbacks: Fiberglass mezzanines are much more expensive than their steel counterparts ( usually 2-3x).  Fiberglass systems have more "give" than steel, components such as handrail sway a bit.
